Firefox 3 RC1 will be released in early May

According to the Mozilla Foundation and its Vice President of Engineering Mike Schroepfer, Firefox 3 will be shipped in early May. 700.000 users have tested the public Beta Version so far and expect Firefox 3 to be the fastest and most secure browser available. The next public release of Beta 5 will be out the first week of April.

In May, most of the larger extension developers will re-work their code to be fully compatible with Firefox 3. One month after that the users will be able to look forward to the final stable release of Firefox 3.

The fourth public Beta version of Firefox 3 can be downloaded on Mozillas official website.

Your title is wrong; the first release candidate will be released before June. As the first sentence of the Wired article you linked to states,

The final release of Firefox 3 is due in June, the company said Wednesday during a roundtable discussion with a small group of tech bloggers.

@ Martey: If you’re actually following the development, you’ll know that RC1 will be released early this month, and the official unoffical word is NOT before the 2nd half of next week, so hopefully between May 14th and May 17th. =)

That’s actually not “early” this month. I would say that is mid way through the month.

It doesn’t seems that Firefox3 rc1 will be released this month. Consider June… ( wiki.mozilla.org/Releases/Firefox_3.0rc1 ) No progress for a month!
Hope it’ll be released as soon as possible ;)

Don’t get me wrong, but in my opinion Firefox 2.0 is faster than Firefox 3.0.
