ECS releases G10IL in April 2008

ECS will release the new Asus EEEPC rival in April 2008. The UMPC comes with the latest ATOM processors from Intel and choice of SSD or HDD. The sub-$500 notebook will also come with HSDPA, 3G, Bluetooth, Wifi and three USB 2.0 ports.

So the Asus challenger does not only look nice - it has also excellent specifications that could put the new EEEPC 900 at risk. The new Asus flagship will be released in summer 2008 and was shown at the Cebit in Hannover, Germany for the first time. When ECS releases new product information on its website with more detailed product specs we will keep you posted. So far, enjoy this little image gallery of the G10IL. To be honest, doesn’t it look nice as hell?

Looks much better than EEEPC. Does it have any advantages over the EEEPC?

3G is a big advantage over the EEEPC - especially for the European market. And also the new ATOM processors are a nice feature that the EEEPC cannot provide up to now. Rumors say that Asus will deliver EEEPCs with ATOM processors in May.

But what is a ATOM processor? The new series from Intel? Any advantages through that?

Intel ATOM processors are especially designed for small mobile internet devices like the Asus EeePc or the new ECS G10IL UMPC.

These new chips, previously codenamed Silverthorne and Diamondville, will be manufactured on Intel’s 45nm process. They also emit less thermal design power (0.6 to 2.5 watt) compared to mainstream Core 2 Duo processors (around 35 watt).
